Rend Lake Golf Course Superintendent

 

The Rend Lake Golf Complex consists of the Rend Lake Golf Course, Seasons Lodge & Condominiums, Buck & Bass Cabins, and a full-service restaurant and sports bar and a banquet hall to accommodate approximately 200 guests. The Rend Lake Golf Course is a beautiful 27-hole championship golf course on the banks of Rend Lake and was named one of the best in the Midwest. The golf course has large bent grass greens averaging 7,500 square feet per green. It has zoysia fairways and tees, numerous water hazards, wide continuous cart paths throughout, meticulous landscaping creating a mature, natural setting. The golf course also has a state of the art, lighted driving range and practice facility with five sets of tees, raised target greens and a practice bunker.

 

The Rend Lake Golf Course is accepting applications for a Golf Course Superintendent. The Golf Course Superintendent is entrusted with the maintenance, operation and management of the golf course.

 

Duties:

  • Assumes responsibility for managing and maintaining properties, which may include: Golf course and practice area, maintenance equipment, golf car fleet, clubhouse grounds and landscaping, other recreational facilities, restrooms and portable water on course, open spaces, wooden areas, unused acreage and areas outside the perimeter fence, sod farm and nursery, upkeep of roadways which includes snow removal, and other properties as assigned.
  • Assumes responsibility for construction and/or reconstruction of such properties, whether performed by maintenance staff or contractors.
  • Prepares the annual budget for the maintenance and capital improvement of club properties.
  • Approves all expenditures and exercises cost control measures to keep, as nearly as possible, operating and capital expenses within the approved budgets.
  • Keeps accurate and complete records on payroll, inventory, weather data, maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, etc.
  • Formulates the annual maintenance and capital budgets to implement Board policies established in accordance with the club’s long-range plan and defined maintenance standards.
  • Interviews, hires, trains, directs, supervises and terminates a staff of employees for the purpose of maintaining club properties.
  • Plans all maintenance and project work, applying his/her agronomic and administrative expertise to achieve the club’s maintenance standards and long-range goals.
  • Oversees scheduling of personnel and equipment to accomplish the work.
  • Keeps all buildings and equipment well maintained.
  • Frequently inspects the golf course and related areas to evaluate how well management standards are being achieved and to effect changes in management programs.
  • Communicates regularly with other members of the organization’s top management group to discuss activities, goals, plans, and customer input.
  • Maintains all required records and reports.
  • Ensures cleanliness of all facilities under their control.
  • Manages safety to strive for zero accidents.
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

Desirable Training and Experience:

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in turf management.
  • Ten years of golf experience.
  • Class A Superintendent License and golf chemical license.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.

Rend Lake Conservancy District is seeking a qualified individual to fill the full-time IWS Assistant Water Plant Manager position within the water and wastewater department. The Assistant Water Plant Manager supervises water and wastewater employees as designated by the Water Superintendent in the performance of plant/field maintenance, operations, repairs and special projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Be available for after hour “on-call” duties including weekends and holidays.
  2. Supervise staff and perform planning functions for maintenance and repair projects with focus on in-plant tasks. This will include, but not be limited to, identification of projects, development of parts and material lists, purchasing of parts and materials, organizing and supervising work teams, accountability for work completion and quality, recordkeeping, evaluating the performance and the development needs for maintenance personnel, and data entry into preventative maintenance system.
  3. Assist the Superintendent in the continual development and maintenance of the preventative maintenance system.
  4. Schedule and track all membrane system maintenance, sonic surveys, module pinning, repairs and other requirements in the O&M manual.
  5. In absence of Water Superintendent, manage water plant operations and supervise operators to achieve treatment goals, operate within established operating bands, and optimize chemical use.
  6. Perform daily cleanliness inspections.
  7. Perform safety training of maintenance personnel and routine safety inspections of water plant.
  8. Perform tracking, purchasing, and accountability for maintaining the proper water treatment chemical inventory, lab supplies and all materials for maintenance activities.
  9. Preparing invoices for review and approval of Superintendent.
  10. Performs any other job-related duties as required.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Possess an Illinois Class A Water Operator license.
  • Possess a valid Illinois driver’s license. CDL preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the water industry.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the supervision of personnel.
  • Experience in electrical field to include knowledge and use of electrical and electronic equipment, SCADA systems, electrical test equipment, and training in troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and air operated equipment is a plus.
  • Experience with wastewater systems is a plus.

Special Requirement:

  • Maintain primary residence within reasonable distance to water plant within the boundaries of the district.

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Rend Lake Conservancy District is seeking a qualified individual to fill the full- time Water Operator – Control Room position within the Water Department. The position is responsible for performing work relating to the daily monitoring and operation of the distribution system and monitoring of the water plant.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor control system and maintain proper pressure.
  2. Start and stop pumps in the distribution system as needed to maintain adequate tank levels and flows.
  3. Adjust ground storage tanks in the system to maintain adequate levels and flows.
  4. Record all readings and settings every hour onto control room log, noting any changes in operations.
  5. Double check all settings made by the lab operator and maintain them.
  6. Address all alarms for the reason it occurred and inform the superintendent if needed.
  7. Inform the lab operator of all in-plant alarms.
  8. Monitor the security system, informing the lab operator of any problems. If breech in security occurs, call Water Superintendent and 911 if needed.
  9. Answer entrance gate call boxes, making sure all entries are identified before opening the gate. Inform Water Superintendent or proper personnel of entry and ensure all entrants are logged on the appropriate form.
  10. Answer all telephone calls, logging them in on the appropriate form, and transferring the call to the proper person. If that person is not available, take a detailed message and call back number.  Employee home or cell phone numbers are not to be given out.
  11. Communicate on intercom system in the plant, by radio system to mobile units, or via cell phone to personnel in the field.
  12. Take all JULIE locate request printouts and inform the proper personnel or Water Superintendent. Call back and clear where we have no water lines in the area.
  13. Assist the lab operator with anything he needs in the plant, or in any emergency, being sure to follow proper procedures and safety rules.
  14. Immediately inform the Superintendent of any significant changes in plant or distribution system.
  15. Work shift work as assigned, including weekends and holidays, and fill whenever necessary. Be prepared to work a double shift if needed.
  16. Perform any other job related duties as required.

 

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • Ability to obtain Illinois EPA class “C” or “D” certificate of competency preferred.
  • Applicants who reside within the taxing boundaries of the district preferred.

Seasons Lodge and Condominiums is hiring a part-time front desk/night auditor employee. The employee is responsible for the customer service and the good first and last impression a guest receives.

 

Duties:

  • Answers all incoming calls from the 800 line and direct line and connects the calls to the correct department or room
  • Answers all questions any guests or future guests may have or connects them to the right person who can give them the proper information
  • Makes reservations for the lodge, condominiums, and manor house
  • Makes reservations for hunting and golf packages and daily, weekly, or monthly condominium rentals
  • Checks guests in and out of the lodging facilities.  This includes all credit card transactions and cash paying customers.
  • Posts all golf charges for guests who room charge their golf
  • Faxes over nightly sheets to the pro shop for guests golfing the following day on a golf package
  • Deliver packages, messages, and faxes to guests
  • Runs nightly audit reports such as daily summaries, telephone reports, movie and game reports, housekeeping reports, as well as daily arrivals and departures.
  • Closes the end of the day on computers and advances computers to the next business day
  • Counts all money in cash drawer and petty cash
  • Checks that receipts sent over from restaurant and pro shop to make sure that all room charges are posted to the correct room
  • Settles credit cards and makes sure totals match the Cash Drawer Summary totals
  • Gets the continental breakfast ready for guests during the winter seasons
  • Helps the housekeeping staff with nightly laundry if needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Seasons Lodge and Condominiums is hiring a part-time night security employee. The employee is responsible for providing safety, security, customer service, and support functions as directed.

 

Duties:

  • Serves as a general security presence and visible deterrent to crime and guest policy infractions.
  • Responds to all emergencies on property, such as medical issues and or fire alarms by following emergency response proceedings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing for the purpose of public interaction and report writing.
  • Ability to handle typical and crisis situations efficiently and effectively on property.
  • Promotes guest and employee safety while they are on the organization’s property by providing door checks, detecting lighting deficiencies, confirming proper operation of elevators, and responding to disruptive individuals.
  • Responsible for identifying and reporting all incidents, accidents, security threats, unsafe conditions or hazards, and/or emergency situations.
  • Responsible for knowing all site-specific policies and procedures, and implementing emergency response activities as appropriate.

Seasons Lodge & Condominiums Maintenance Employee

 

The Seasons Lodge & Condominiums is seeking a full-time maintenance employee. The maintenance employee shall perform routine building maintenance, general cleaning duties, semi-skilled maintenance tasks, and related work as required at the lodge, condominiums, manor, and cabins. The maintenance employee will perform various maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities and to meet the needs of our guests.

 

Duties: 

  • Conducts regular inspections of hotel facilities to identify any maintenance or repair needs and promptly address them.
  • Performs general maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repairs of the buildings and equipment.
  • Mows lawns, trims shrubs, rakes leaves, waters flowers, and performs a variety of other groundskeeping tasks.
  • Paints rooms, repairs furniture, as well as makes minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs.
  • Cleans and maintains lodge jacuzzi and swimming pool in accordance to the standards set forth by the Illinois Department of Public Health as well as pass the yearly inspections done by the IDPH.
  • Tests and maintains records of chemicals used in the swimming pool and jacuzzi.
  • Maintains and secures adequate inventory of supplies and equipment needed for repairs.
  • Assists with maintaining a clean and safe environment for guests and employees.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area free of all hazards. This includes grounds, parking areas, equipment rooms, and maintenance office.
  • Collects and disposes of trash and debris.
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

Desirable Education and Experience:

 

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • High school education
  • 5 or more years of building maintenance knowledge and skills, with the ability to handle all aspects of hotel maintenance

The Rend Lake Conservancy District is seeking a part-time maintenance employee. The employee shall perform outdoor work involving the use of hand tools and mechanical equipment.  Mechanical equipment may include weedeaters, mowers, tractors, chainsaws, etc.  Employee shall also perform work on buildings, fences, and other structures as needed.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform or assist in the following tasks:

  • Operate bush hugs, lawn mowers, chain saws, weed eaters and other hand tools to cut grass, clear bush, and remove down trees.
  • Mow, trim shrubs, rake leaves, and perform a variety of other groundskeeping tasks.
  • Spray weed killer.
  • Use grinders, wire wheels or other tools to prep surfaces for painting.
  • Mix and apply paint with rollers, brushes or sprayers.
  • Remove trash and debris.
  • Maintain mowing equipment fuel and oil levels to keep them in operational condition.
  • Clean equipment at end of day or end of each use.
  • Perform any other duties as directed.
